Murray crayfish season open

Recommended Posts

Murray Crayfish season officially opens today!

Murray Crayfish are only permitted to be taken during winter months with the minimum size limit for the species is 10cm – measured from the rear of the eye socket to the centre rear of the carapace – and the maximum size limit is 12cm.

There is also a daily bag limit of two crayfish and a total possession limit of four, and crayfish must only be taken from prescribed NSW waters, not any other locations.

Fishers can obtain a free Murray Crayfish measuring device and the NSW Freshwater Fishing Guide from DPI Fisheries offices and most bait and tackle stores.

For more detailed information on fishing rules or regulations download the FishSmart app or visit the DPI website www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries
